Love, Desire and Obsession

"Love, Desire and Obsession" is the evocative title of a National Symposium, happening in Melbourne in March 2011, and hosted by the Australian Assocation of Relationship Counsellors. It is a 2 day event, featuring international as well as local presenters. Speakers include Judith Siegel, Associate Professor at the New York University School of Social Work and author of several books about marriage and relationships; and Christopher Clulow from the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships in London. These speakers and a host of national presenters will discuss thorny questions such as what are the 'unconsious contracts' that bind couples together for better or worse, and understanding concepts such as obsession in the context of psychodynamic processes such as splitting and projective identification, particularly in the context of family violence.

This will be a rich and highly informative event - I'm certainly planning to be there! If you are interested and want to find out more, click on this link, which will connect to the Australian Association of Relationship Counsellors website, and download the flier.
